By doing nothing, everything begins to happen.

By doing nothing, everything begins to happen.

The moment you become competitive with yoga, you lose the point of it. Don’t compare yourself to others. Compare yourself today to yourself yesterday.
If you achieve the correct posture in a headstand, it’s like the weight of your whole body disappears and you just balance there. It’s an amazing feeling when you first get to it because you’ve been feeling the weight of your body for your entire life. It feels almost like your body disappears.
I advise everyone to keep practising their headstands safely and gradually. It’s really worth getting right.
For the first time in my life that I can remember, I can touch my toes!

This is after 20 days of yoga and chi work.
Headstands rock!

Sick :(

Getting into and balancing on your head can be tricky and painful. I have found using your forearms to balance on is an easier way to achieve success in the headstand pose. Here are some pics of me getting into a headstand.
I am a beginner so this is just how I get into a headstand on my forearms. Note that I use a wall to get myself into the correct position and then when I am stable I take my foot off the wall and balance on my own.
Step 1: Make sure fingers are locked together…

Step 2: Place forearms on the ground just out from the wall…

Step 3: Place top of head down onto mat with the top of the back of your head resting into your hands…

Step 4: Tuck toes under…

Step 5: Push up…

Step 6: Stop halfway to get your balance…

Step 7: Continue to extend legs. Use the wall for balance…

Step 8: Once you’ve found your balance, take your feet off the wall. Your forearms help to distribute the weight of your body rather than your neck and head taking it all…

Enjoy! :)
This is a pic of today’s utkatasana pose (chair pose) …

I found this information on utkatasana: In Sanskrit, utkatasana means ‘powerful pose’ - and this is certainly a challenging asana, requiring a balance of opposites in the upper and lower body. Mentally, utkatasana fosters course and determination.
I love that this pose fosters course and determination for the mind. Anyone travelling a journey needs as much course and determination as they can gather.
:)
First inverted pose. I had a crap week mentally. And resistance to change kicked in big time. I’ve really struggled through each day, but I did continue yoga all but one day, which I am happy about.
Today when I did this pose I felt fantastic! Better than I had felt in a long long time. Really cleared my head — just stopped all thoughts in their tracks. Brilliant.
I’m not getting my hopes too high, but I will be delighted if I get the same mental relief tomorrow from this pose.
